We live in an age of perpetual carnival. It is wise to listen and to learn to discern between a Lion and an Ass.
An Ass once found a Lion’s skin which the hunters had left out in the sun to dry. He put it on and went towards his native village. All fled at his approach, both men and animals, and he was a proud Ass that day. In his delight, he lifted his voice and brayed, but then everyone knew him, and his owner came up and gave him a sound cudgeling for the fright he had caused. And shortly afterward, a Fox approached him and said: “Ah, I knew you by your voice.”[1]
Fine clothes may disguise, but silly words will disclose a fool.
My name is Julian L Sevillano. I am the Executive Director of this space that aims to disseminate pertinent information about the human brain, emphasizing brain neuroplasticity and the tools that can help us weather our circumstances. My mission is to bring some hope regarding the dilemma of people of all ages. And the difficulty is because we not only have to fight with problems that our condition brings but also with what adaptation to the results of the pandemic and the so-called "New Normal" entails. Notice to the reader that I said "our condition" since I just turned 86! I continued my studies at Harvard Extension School in Fundamentals of Neuroscience. I obtained Certificates in the Electrical Properties of Neurons, Neural Networks and Neurons and The Brain. I previously studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a bachelor’s in accounting and economics. I am the Coordinator of Neurocognitive Research Programs for Seniors—I-Function, Inc. (University of Miami School of Medicine start-up). I am a Consultant at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging. Miller School of Medicine. University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. I also work as a Neuroplasticity and BrainHQ Posit Science Certified Brain Adequacy Trainer at brain training centers located at the Village Activity Center in Key Biscayne, Florida, at the City of Coral Gables, Florida Activity Center, and The Palace Coral Gables (self-contained accommodations and services for seniors) in Coral Gables, Florida.
